That’s all irrelevant as soon as you get new owners. The “type” of club you are is entirely defined by who owns the club. The previous owners were not the type to sack willy nilly, doesn’t mean the new owners are necessarily the same. Who do you think would be in a senior enough position to fire the manager, that has existed through the various ownerships, and has maintained a club philosophy like that? Very rarely. A DoF would do that if they retained their role across ownerships, but if you are reporting directly to the owner then the club takes its shape from the owners management style

The way to make refereeing better at the top level long term is to improve the conditions for grass roots reffing

No one wants to ref, the pay is shit for what you have to deal with. The only people that do it are power trip or “love of the game” people. You get more grass roots refs, you get a bigger pool for advancement, you get better quality refs filtering up.

Of course that’s very long term and it’ll take years for grass roots refs starting now to reach the pro leagues. But that’s how you solve the root of the problem, as opposed to band aid solutions for the top level, which may not even work.

Let us have him back on loan! We need a keeper, Radu doesn’t look good enough and Neto has been poor this season

So that just moves the line 30cm. It doesn’t solve the problem. Imagine this exact same picture except Kean is 31cm past the last defender, the line is drawn at 30cm from the last man. Same problem

Sure in this case that would make this one definitively onside, but like I said there will be a time when a striker is ~30cm past the last defender and the line drawing becomes an issue again
