It doesn’t. Recipes / traditions come from people migrating around and trying things with the plants and animals available in different areas.

Traditions should be remembered and respected. Locking them down and not allowing them to change though is bizarre and not how humans work.

I was just listening to a podcast on the history of tacos al pastor. Turns out, Lebanese immigrants brought shawarma to Mexico. Pork was more widely available and chilis are freaking awesome. Boom, tacos al pastor.

Neighbor started firing guns in the air for a reason I do not comprehend. After one bullet zipped past my head, I crawled inside and called the cops. Four leisurely hours later, the cops arrived and said there was nothing they could do.

So now when I’m outside on that side of my property, I keep an eye out for the neighbor, when I see them I go inside. If it ever happens again, I will try to capture video.

Work backwards. Find some literature/research that supports what you’ve done and work it into your paper.

Meet with your thesis advisor frequently. They should have helped you correct course long before you reached this point.

Starbucks. Union busting. Support of Israeli government committing genocide. Bad takes on race and gender. And they burn their beans to shit.

Engineering company with one big shared drive with a simple file folder structure. Drawings were in a folder with a text file up top that said something like “do not modify without Ed’s approval”, Ed being the senior most engineer. Everyone was given the same access levels to read/write/modify, but because the note said not to, no one did. (They totally did change files without Ed’s approval).

We had some work that required being authorized to work in the US and one project where we had to be a US citizen, not just green card or work visa or whatever. The check? None, you got default access to the entire drive unless you had an accent. I only ever saw people with accents get questioned about their citizenship.

If you’re talking about bullying with a violent component, all the more reason not to stick the victim in a room with the bully to talk it out. Get the bully help, protect the victim. It’s not the victim’s job to help the bully, it’s the adults’ jobs.

Should bullying at school be pro-actively approached and make victims and bullies talk to each other under professional supervision ?

Hell, no. Don’t put the responsibility on victims to help their bullies/abusers.

Also, it’s not always a clear cut bully/victim dynamic. My school had a loner gun-loving asocial student. He probably thought he was bullied. In reality he made people, especially the girls, super uncomfortable and he was avoided. No one really made fun of him, never physically attacked him, never pulled pranks on him, just avoided him. Not inviting his friendship is not bullying. He needed professional help.

Forcing me, for example, to talk to him and pretend to be his friend would have been bad for both of us. He needed counseling/therapy, which I was not and still am not qualified to provide, and I needed safe friends I could trust.
