good translations require actually checking out every individual word to make sure nothing goes wrong, think about reading “I walked to the ball.” You either imagined that as a little round thing or a grand ceremony, that happens in every language, and only gets more confusing the further from your language you go. Not to mention translating culture, translating words that dont have a 1 to 1 with your target language, trying to translate how a society views certain concepts or ideas, and translating a joke is absolutely insane to watch the process of.
