a pigeon who beat Telkom in internet speed. basically, in 2009, a guy working at an office of the financial services company The Unlimited in Howick said to his boss “my internet is so slow a pigeon could outspeed it”. so his boss decided to test it out. they got a pigeon named Winston from Durban and put a little vest on him with a USB stick with 4 GBs of data on it, and then Winston started to fly back to his home in Gillits at 10 am. a taxi driver picked him up and delivered him to the head office of The Unlimited in Hillcrest and then uploaded the data at 11:45. 26 minutes before Winston started flying, they started to send the data remotely. by the time the data was uploaded from Winston, the remote transfer was just under 4% complete
