In 1988 I was a single mom without child support. I had no help and no generational wealth. I went to free (except for books) community college in the mornings, then rushed to my M-F bartender job from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. at a tiny establishment frequented by construction workers.

Working 30 hours a week, I paid for a 2 bedroom/2 bath spacious apartment in a beautiful area with pool and a view. Utilities and bills were as much as rent, and childcare alone took as much as all expenses. I still had what would amount to $560 in today’s dollars PER WEEK for clothes, vacations, entertainment.

We often went to Disneyland. We flew around for holidays. We wore the nicest clothes and I threw big parties.

What’s going on right now - what young people are trying to deal with - is fucking criminal. Everyone should be able to live in comfort with disposable income the same way people did 36 years ago. No “well inflation” or “but wages” excuses.

Isn’t NHS being systematically gutted and shoved into a more American healthcare model since Brexit?

The human effect is just an elaborate version of “There was an old lady who swallowed a fly.”

Governor Suckup doesn’t say that Trump and Vance lied. He states that he supports them, although they’re “repeating claims that lack evidence”. And then in an absolute WTF he goes on to accuse the Biden administration of verbally attacking Haitians:

“The Biden administration’s failure to control the southern border is a very important issue that Mr. Trump and Mr. Vance are talking about and one that the American people are rightfully deeply concerned about. But their verbal attacks against these Haitians — who are legally present in the United States — dilute and cloud what should be a winning argument about the border.”

USAmerican here - I’ve tried that chicken waffle thing twice, and it’s pretty revolting. 1/10 would rather go hungry.

Idaho wasn’t always a haven for the radical right and their terrorist agenda. Progressive environmentalist Senator Frank Church (D) represented the majority of the populace, and when white supremacists tried to muscle into northern Idaho, the locals successfully fought back.

Beginning in the 1980’s, Idaho’s incredible natural resources and staggeringly cheap property attracted a steady flood of survivalists, developers, and right-wing extremists from other states. This ongoing influx has shifted state politics to nearly Texas levels of hate, and the ensuing economic assault - as well as the sprawling destruction of its natural resources - has driven out many people from Idaho.

Even this shrieking douchebag Dan Foreman, is from Illinois. He moved to Idaho around 2005.
