This is great news! Even better than the USB-C regulation. Changing a battery on a modern phone is a huge pita… And it’s definitely getting worse since some companies are trying everything to prevent you from doing so…

I would absolutely buy a phone twice as thick as my iPhone SE 2020 if it has an easily swappable battery. Bonus points if it is able to be used as an actual phone without a case to prevent it from dying instantly from a light breeze or some evil look by a person…

And here I am: 6 hours after OP and still able to post the second comment 😄

I honestly like this slower pace. Reminds me of good old times posting in online forums… 😍

I upgraded the RAM of my RS1222 to 32GB shortly after I bought it. I ordered memory with pretty much identical timings like the original ones from Synology with the max compatible capacity and it worked fine for me.

I wanted to tell you this so you can probably save some money, even if nobody has experience with your model. Only downside for me were notifications on every boot that non original RAM was detected. Other than that everything works fine for two years now.

This is so true!

Last year I had a project to upgrade the PLC of a machine to the newest generation. As usual the customer was not able to tell me the requirements they had. They told me to look in the old software…

It turns out it was 30+ years old software where you had to program in a cmd line (Siemens S5 if you know PLCs). I had to migrate everything to the next generation (S7) to be at least a little bit productive. Then I thought come on lets try to migrate to the current generation (TIA) to be even more productive.

At the end everything was nearly ready to be compiled and uploaded to the PLC. So I fixed some minor compile time issues, deleted around 50-75% of the old program (old stuff which went obsolete), changed some variable names, refactored some stuff and here we are: The same 30+ year old software is running strong. 24/7 since 6 months without issues 😁
