I mostly use reddit via web interface on my desktop, and the mobile apps don’t really hold much of a candle to that IMO

It’s not just cross posting. People can engage with lemmy content from mastodon accounts. Not just read it, but have real conversations. That’s not something that commercial social media allows you to do, even with Oauth. Oauth is using your single account as a key to multiple walled gardens, but the walls are still there.

But this ownership comes with certain responsibilities, so you should start thinking about how you can help out with running fediverse sites or host your own 💗

I am posting from my own lemmy instance, and I run a Calckey instance. Later today, I’m going to be looking at setting up a /kbin instance :)

It’s not quite that simple. The instance in question is an “anything goes” free speech instance full of all sorts of awfulness, including transphobia from the admin who runs it.

Russian troll bots or not, the instance isn’t one I’d be comfortable having in my feeds either way

it’s sad to see this strong instance to go.

Hope he’ll […] reappear on fediverse in the future

I think I’m going to have to disagree with you on those issues :)

So if you don’t like instances that hide their blocklist, just move to an instance that doesn’t. If you don’t like an instance whose admins follow fediblock, or who block instances you want to communicate with, then move to another instance.

If you don’t like the fact that this tool was demonised, then don’t use instances ran by people who demonised it.

It’s decentralised. You can find people who share your opinions.

It will be perfect, once they fix the HTML formatting in the subject :)

Not quite what I meant. I don’t use Mastodon. I was referring to the fact that some posts from Mastodon users are showing up on my lemmy instance with mark-up displayed in the subject line.

But that’s because I haven’t updated my lemmy instance to the latest version :)
