The reason for my deconversion was entirely related to my epistemology; I realized that one could believe literally anything if one did not require reliable, high quality, supporting evidence of said belief.

This thought hit me in an instant sometime in 2016, when I had been out of church settings for a long time by that point but one day I was thinking about christians convincing themselves that a certain US presidential candidate was anointed by God / on their side / whatever. It was like snapping out of a dream/delusion; belief in anything without good evidence suddenly seemed ridiculous.

Since insufficient evidence is available for any supernatural thingies, I no longer believe any such claims.

Though I haven’t had one in ages, “Cuban Sandwich” popped into mind first for some reason. Maybe because the next more exotic sandwich I’m aware of is a PB&J. Hopefully the ideas here will expand my world a bit.

Also, gaming works out of the box on my hardware (my gfx card wasn’t fully supported by 5.x kernel)

True. “Works every time, 90% of the time” :) --thanks to the HID class I guess.

I have had issues with a couple oddball mice (like no name brand stuff) but the common ones, no problems. Currently running a Logitech G203 Lightsync.

To be fair I haven’t used mice with lots of extra buttons so no idea about those

I’ve been running Nobara, based on Fedora but with a bunch of tweaks specific to gaming. So far so good. I was using Mint but needed a newer kernel to support my (Ed: AMD) graphics card.

At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if they removed the ability to comment.

Culture, movements, propaganda, all odd and complex things. Seeing how things have changed in the last 30+ years in the US (since that’s what I know) and especially the last 10, and how that all came about, gives me a very different perspective about the directions various countries take and how the populous is led there gradually.

I’ve been to Moscow briefly. I know the people there are just people like anywhere. But their reality, like mine, is shaped by information available, the culture, the history.

Rise of right wing craziness to mainstream in USA via right wing media has been a targeted project for the last 40+ years following Watergate. Only now do we see those plans come to fruition in the form of judicial takeover and extreme divisiveness among the populace. As educational institutions continue to be eroded, underfunded, demonized, and subverted there will come a time when the majority of the population gladly accepts its strong man and relinquishes the rest of its freedoms with a smile.

If you do the right things and it doesn’t pay off then the company is probably not a good fit for you, if you ask me. A company that fires you with no warning out of the blue is very likely a shit company.

I think anyone who is more interested in bettering how they do development would look at your achievements and want to hire you on the spot.

We have lots of people who think like you where I work (me included) which is why I am still there after so long. It’s utopia compared to the clown show companies I worked for before.

Your opinion on necessity is a red herring. That isn’t the system we are in. We are in a market system (for better or worse) that determines what jobs exist and how much they’re worth in compensation.

Besides if it were all about bare necessity, we could pare down most jobs. I mean heck, let’s go back to being hunter-gatherers. We don’t need anything more to survive as a species. (And all this bullshit we do every day dumping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere will guarantee our demise, most likely).

Man what kind of world is it when you can’t idolize Hitler and Mussolini and want to oppress/exterminate groups of people without being called fascist?

A sane world.

That’s the kind of world.that would be.
