In my experience that is because Linux (or whatever part of it that’s responsible) will only start cooling if it absolutely has to. Otherwise it’s happy to cook my laptop at 92°C.

I’ve just finished reinstalling mint after applying a fix that was supposed to let me control the fans fucked up xOrg beyond repair. Multi-monitor setup is broken. On Ubuntu I couldn’t even get the Wifi to work. Manjaro refused to update packages because after installing a usual 300+ package update surge, suddenly everything was in conflict with each other. On all distros I needed to edit a config file so external speakers wouldn’t hum at full volume when no sound was playing.

Even with the supposedly ‘easy’ distros, Linux still isn’t an everyman’s operating system.

„Herausgreifen” (wie meiner Meinung nach auch „to single somebody out”) hat für mich die Bedeutung, dass alle etwas falsch machen, die Quatschtante aber ausschließlich die neue Kollegin zur Sau macht.

Auf „to single sb. out” folgt ja immer etwas: “She singled her out as the reason the project failed,” “She singled her out as the bad guy”. Wenn man diese Phrasen übersetzt, passt „herausgreifen” meiner Meiung nach nicht wirklich: „Sie griff sie als die Ursache für das Scheitern heraus” klingt komisch. In diesem Beispielzusammenhang wäre „verantwortlich machen” die bessere Phrase.

Nach meinem Sprachverständnis und nach deiner Beschreibung der Situation trifft es „jemanden auf dem Kieker haben” besser. Ohne einen Satz sind Übersetzungen einzelner Wörter oder Phrasen immer schwierig.

„zu verunsichern und Lügen über sie zu verbreitern“ lässt auch die Übersetzung „mobben” und „triezen“ zu.

My personal hint for everyone learning a foreign language to be understood in another country: Pronunciation, pronunciation, pronunciation! You only need around 2000 words to get around, but no-one can understand you if you butcher each and every one of the 100k words you’ve learned. Also grammar is optional. Nouns, adjectives and verbs in their basic forms convey enough meaning.
