I feel like this should be a feature of capitalism. Once you hit like $50-$100million in the bank, there’s a ceremony where they give you a fancy “I won capitalism” gold trophy and then you have to retire to live your life. You aren’t allowed to continue running corporations and politics after hitting that threshold.
Reddit relies on moderators to mod the subs free of charge. Mods use API powered bots to help make life easier.
If mods are dumb enough to open up after two days and continue moderating subs, they’re going to learn real hard on July 1st how much more difficult it is to manage a sub without all those automod bots.
We’ll see what happens next month when the brown stuff hits the fan.
Anyone else having a problem with notifications? I receive zero notifications about any post or comment I make here if someone comments on it. Dunno why but I only know people commented if I find my post or refresh it later… is this a setting I’m missing?
Fortunately, Chatgpt was trained on data sets from Reddit and other sources, so not all knowledge is lost. But totally feel the pain, I’m going to miss reddit (still haven’t been back since the blackout - I blocked reddit at the router level to prevent accessing it accidentally out of habit)
I’ve blocked Reddit at the router level to prevent myself from accidentally visiting the site. For now I’m trying to send a clear message - they are seeing a 100% drop in traffic from my IP Address - it ain’t much, but it’s act of solidarity for all the poor mods who have been using Automod systems to help moderate larger subs, and on July 1st, reddit will be become a sh!t show when all those automods fail to work
The thing is most would be very profitable companies if the executive wing wasn’t so damn greedy trying to eek out the highest salary and bonus possible so they can have that new shiny gold watch and fancy car to impress their “friends”. It’s human greed, plain and simple, and it’s not limited only to social media companies.
This is some grade-a shitposting, and I’m here for it
K, thx bye. So long and thanks for all the fish
