this is something I’ve never understood either. putin has been willing to bend over backwards for the west for forever like a good little doggy but ig they’re still mad he stopped the outright looting of russia and wont ban the communists or something?

for a more serious idea: I think the liberals will never be able to truly win in russia. the legacy of socialism is too strong still, even with the weakness of the kprf and what not they ultimately haven’t been completely crushed and banned like they were in ukraine and other post socialist countries, if they start collapsing the economy the situation could start to get very dangerous for them.

important to remember that this still holds true even in reverse (i.e. was used in a more negative context with traditions of feudalism and what not but it’s now the traditions formed by socialism that have at least a little weight)

this seems like a more recent goal to me but the US has been hostile to russia for forever, i dont think this can entirely explain it

What do you think of your orgs response to this disaster in appalachia? seems like ripe ground for radicalization, it’s a very poor region that’s been abandoned by the government. I’ve only seen a response from PSL and it seemed pretty slow and too little (like 2 tweets about it one of which is a retweet). as these disasters will happen more and more frequently, is there any movement to try and build capacity to help respond where the government fails?
