Great job!
I like the volumetric lighting (at least, I think that’s what it is?) I feel like it was always tricky to get right - at least, when I was working in Maya back in the day.
I do feel like the blue light is a little bit aggressive, and wonder if there’d be value in adding some more saturated colored lights to give some depth? Depends on the concept art, obviously. I’m curious - do you mind posting the reference you’re working off?
Beautiful! The highlights in the metal and the precision of your color really show off your talent.
So, what happened last night in LA? 😄
Super rad! I have a soft spot in my heart for colorless sketches exploring character designs like this.
Personality comes through well, and the head silhouette is awesome.
Oh wow! Impressive that you did this on the fly!
I feel you on wanting to make things straight from your head, it feels closer to art as a mode of creative self expression.
I have found though, that visual planning and collecting references (even if it’s just like, the color of light from one painting, the texture of an ancient piece of pottery, etc. ) actually gives you more opportunities to be creative and helps build a visual library in your mind that you can draw from in the future. It is a lot of work, though, and feels like it slows you down at first.
Maybe you can try it and see if you like it?
I am truly floored by this. I think all of us animators are masochists to an extent, but you must be on another level. Great work.
Omg. I’m so excited to see the finished product. How big will be this mareep end up being?
I don’t have much of an opinion on the bioware forums, but man - it’s crazy to think about this period as the collapse of web2. I mean, I’m aware of it, but somehow, giving it that title seems so real.
The online spaces I’ve spent most of my time in are collapsing, and all that’ll be left is the shambling, soulless husks of bankrupt cryptocurrencies. I guess we can just go ahead and skip straight to web4?
The smoke is so awful to live through, but I do love this photo. It reminds me of traditional Chinese landscape watercolor paintings.
