Also a reddit refugee. I’m curious if the bot there had any use other than linking to the ebird page (end of year statistics maybe?)

For North American birds the Feather Atlas has always been a good resource. It would be nice to find a way to rope that in when people post feathers, not sure how easy or hard that might be.

I’m happy to help ID, mostly raptors.

Over-50 tech-ish. In the brief time I was an IT manager I ordered Blackberries for some of the staff but didn’t use one myself. DVD recorder: not for TV but on the computer. No webtv, no 3d tv (I’m not much of a TV watcher anymore), no internet radio. With some programming help I recently set up a Pico W with a water sensor to monitor a water heater for flooding and ping my phone if it happens. That was pretty nifty.

Vaping was how I quit smoking tobacco and then quit vaping too. I started vaping to quit tobacco using premixed liquids for about 2 years, then switched to mixing my own so I took control of my nicotine intake. Over the course of about 8 months I kept cutting the nicotine in half. I would have a bit of a headache for a couple days then I would get better. After vaping at 0% for about 2 weeks, I noticed I was not picking up the vape as often and I could just leave it on the other side of the room and not care. About another month and I was entirely done. Previously about 1/2 pack a day smoker for 25+ years, now free of everything for about 6 years now.

It seems like it’s okay because the patient didn’t die from the “treatment” itself. No matter that the things the doctors prescribed are largely useless against covid.

Rolling up on my 10th year (September). There are some subs where I haven’t been able to find an equivalent community anywhere else, so I have an RSS feed pulling in posts from those places, but Lemmy and Tildes are covering the bulk of it for me.

I got all excited when the cost of hard drives got down to $10/MB.

I’ve heard of that with Rewards - there’s a motive to answer just to get the money, so it’s not unreasonable to test users that way. But reviews get you nothing so it seems strange. But I think I’ll do as you suggested. Thanks

Yes, clearly the motor itself works fine. When I said motor unit I meant the entire box which includes the circuit board electronics that’s failed. If the radio in the motor unit isn’t working I’m not sure the Meross is going to solve that problem.

I guess my question was whether the stats, e.g. number of teeth per inch, width, thickness on garage door belts are standardized/universal. It’s good information that you were able to reuse the chain and replacing it isn’t that hard to do, thanks!

I was thinking there would be a chance of that. In researching the replacement circuit board they seem big into backwards compatibility.
