Aren’t people just responding to the question being asked though?

Briar can be distributed from device to device via a direct download and works without relying on a central server. You can even chat without access to the internet via bluetooth or external storage. I don’t think getting rid of Briar is going to work… ;) What I’m trying to say is that Briar was also made with laws like these in mind, and it will be able to continue existing even if Briar would be forced to somehow disable downloads from the eu.

Obsidian with the Excalidraw plug-in is very good, as you can also integrate non-handwritten notes, convert handwriting to text etc. !

KeePassXC (windows/macos/linux), KeePassDX (android) are what I use. I sync the databases between 4 devices with Syncthing.

But why would lemmy.world be the target of those supposed legal battles? These instances aren’t even hosted on lemmy.world.

Using it on a somewhat old Microsoft surface laptop, and it’s been really great. I really like nix for packages, but nixos got very, very cool when I was able to switch DE by changing two lines in the configuration file and everything just worked. It’s very hard to break too, which is useful for me…

I live in the EU and I even wish for a bit more aggressiveness regarding laws like this. It’s a very slow moving machine, but I feel like it does have the ability to create change.
