That seems like a pretty bad platform to develop an app for then lol at least APIs try to maintain backwards-compatibility (and give you only the data you need in an easier format), I can’t imagine that being sustainable long-term.

Hopefully this is just another idea they scrap and they don’t follow through with it.

I honestly enjoy stuff like this. I’m employed again recently, fully remote and decent pay thankfully, but I do appreciate stuff like this. It takes some of the monotony out of applying for jobs at least lol

It’s a great neutral pronoun, but it can sound like you are referring to multiple people depending on how you use it.

I’m even more tempted now that lemmy.one, my main instance I was using, appears to be down with a database issue according to its API. Which of course means if they don’t have working backups, it may actually just be gone forever, along with my post history there.

Americans love their 80 year old politicians. The upper levels of government are basically a retirement home, it’s wild.

I’ve been using Firefox since before they released their “Quantum” update, thankfully, and it’s been quite good for me since then. Still though, we’re going to need way more people switching to make a dent in Chromium - if it’s even possible at this point.

Pirating copies of games I have already paid for a “license” for is ethical IMO. I want to be able to have offline-capable backups that can’t be taken away from me.

While this is true, if anyone uses a Lemmy instance that eventually goes away, it is likely they will have lost their post history forever. That kind of thing is pretty annoying. I get that their comments would still be out there, but it’s still not ideal.
