I’m starting to get sick of online communities (present company excluded) - namely how much people are willing to complain about something while continually consuming it. Two recent cases come to mind:

  1. Diablo IV - people were upset with Blizzard that it was online only, and then they were upset about it being so heavily monetised, then they were upset with its recent updates (sending the user score on Metacritic below 5). And yet they STILL continue to play it, constantly. Blizzard won’t give a shit about your complaints if people are still consuming it.

and

  1. Reddit - particularly, the new r/Places that has opened up. The complaints in there about how it seems that bots are destroying the very essence of the “game”, and that mods are sabotaging anything against u/spez… as if they didn’t think this would happen anyway after the last few months. And yet people still continually use the platform.

In other news - still absolutely buzzing from the BABYMETAL gig on the weekend. There’s something to be said about three Jyoshi’s singing about unification and becoming one with a single source, while the words WALL OF DEATH flash up on the screens behind them. The crowd parted like the Red Sea before Moses before complete chaos ensued. 10/10 - easily top five gigs of all time for me.

It’s hard, eh? I envy the hell out of people who just seem to go with the flow. That whole “just roll with the punches” kind of person. My brain is constantly trying to play 4D chess in a world that, really, should just be checkers and nothing more. Everything needs a “solution”, even if there isn’t necessarily a real problem presenting itself in the first place.

It’s fucking tiring, man.

So, at the start of the year my regular GP said that I “probably have chronic fatigue” and that it’s likely due to my depression. But lately my depression has been okay (anxiety, okay maybe not so much but I’ve been under far better control all things considered). And yet the feeling has come back of being super tired, headache, with pain at the back of my neck/top of my spine.

Anyway, found someone locally who specialises in chronic fatigue. He’s away on holidays as of today though, so it’ll be a while before I even set up a chat with him. Still, I’m hoping maybe it can lead to a bit more than a vague diagnosis with no real plan.

I’m loving the individual greetings for the daily threads - such a great way to come in and say 'ello. Thank you @Goddess_Amaterasu@aussie.zone!

I’ve been feeling flat this morning, both physically and mentally. Ended up queuing a bunch of songs together that elicit a strong emotional response and had a good cry. Maybe that’s all I needed. I’m thankful to be working from home today, and with the Mrs out for the morning too… gives me a bit of space :)

Gah… already getting those “this weekend is too short” vibes and it hasn’t even started yet. If they’re going to make us work longer, can they at the very least give us a bit more time in our lives now and just mandate a four day work week already?!

God… imagine having so much free time on your hands that you’d go out of your way to impersonate someone online in a casual space like the DT. Holy fuck that’s low.

Great call, and it’s annoying the media outlets are by-and-large trying to make it an even bigger deal than I feel it needs to be. I understand that a few sports stars are put out, and regionally speaking it hurts some areas in some respects - but we could be fucking celebrating the fact that a fiscally responsible decision was made, and one that should still provide benefits that are needed more (like housing) compared with the cheap Olympics ripoff the Comms games are.
