I would if I could. I cringe every time I see my handle at the top of the homepage.
@tom@feddit.uk Could you un-feature my post now please? :)
I’m repeating myself cos I said this in another thread but the pending subscriptions should still be showing posts in your feed when you select subscribed at the top, at least they do for me and someone else confirmed it was the case for them too. The pending is a visual glitch - I think.
I’d been thinking about this because of the missing sub. Technically not UK news but there were UK citizens onboard.
Thank you for making this post. I saw it happen and found it very concerning. I didn’t feel capable to address it myself so I am very glad someone else has raised the issue. I would like to hope that the vast majority (should be everyone but evidently not with what’s happened) of our instance will be in agreeance that transphobia is absolutely not something we want to be associated with here. @tom@feddit.uk Please deal with this.
I’m truly sorry you’ve had this experience here. I saw your post and I saw how quickly it got locked. I also saw how you handled the situation in the other thread where they debated with you back and forth. I won’t pretend to be hugely knowledgable regarding the issues that the trans community face and that is on me, I need to educate myself. I just want to add that I think Tom may be on holiday at present and it might be that he isn’t sure how to respond to you. However, that’s not an excuse and I do think that the community should have been locked down at the very least. It’s unfortunate timing that an instance was created, it’s grown extremely quickly in numbers, and the lead admin is not able to give full attention to pressing issues like this. I hope a resolution can be reached soon.
As far as I know, it’s a visual glitch and you are actually subscribed. Posts made to these communities should still be showing up in your main feed when you select ‘subscribed’ - At least that was the case for me with my pending ones.
I don’t know how to do it, but there is a way to lock your community to ‘mod-only’. This stops posts being created which is probably for the best if you don’t intend to be here at all to oversee anything. As I understand it, Lemmy is currently at huge risk of an influx of bot accounts / it’s already happening. Tom has added email verification to register with our instance but anyone on the whole Fediverse can still come here and post / comment whatever they want. If things start getting posted to your community and you aren’t here to deal with it, is Tom supposed to do it for you? Definitely best to lock it imo :)
