This is the fartlek that I was taught. Especially when beginning, this sort of fartlek is easier mentally than timed intervals. Do this first and inch in to structured intervals.

I saw this recipe recently. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but it seems reasonable. I’ll add a pinch of “salt substitute,” for potassium and substitute glucose and sucrose for the fructose. Also some lemon juice to make it more palatable.

DIY powder for fueling runs and this year’s #ultras. Gist is 100 calories is 14g maltodextrin, 7g fructose, 3g MCT, 0.1g salt mixed with liquid of choice.

I really like my Coros Pace 2. Relatively inexpensive. Great for running and cycling. Breadcrumb navigation. Long battery life.

I ran my first one on Saturday. Very fun for all the reasons @cpamoa sums up. Also very nice to have nearly instant results and free!

There aren’t all the many outside the UK and Ireland. Not sure why that is. Seems as if the US should have a bazillion of them.

When I go to a running shop, when we start talking about actual shoes, I say, “I’m on a budget.”. The sales people respect what my budget is, and if we can’t get into the price range I need, they have always been courteous in telling me that. They want customers to feel welcome coming back.

BTW, in the US, Brooks online has a liberal return policy.

That’s what TrainerRoad does for cyclists. I liked it.

I heard TR added running, but haven’t tried it.

Doesn’t the “standard” form, fatigue graph that so many sites, apps center around do that for you? That’s what I look at when my desire flags.

Coros Pace 2. Inexpensive (relatively) and great for running.

My spouse’s required a subscription to get the data she needs from it. Sigh.

Here’s an in-depth review of the Pace 2 from DC Rainmaker:

https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2020/09/coros-pace-2-in-depth-review-multisport-running-power.html

Since the review, the software has been updated, there’s an online training calendar and data summary, more sport modes, better models of running performance, and navigation (breadcrumb.)
