I read Jane Eyre when I was pretty young (I am not that young anymore) and I have read it many many time since then. People now want to make Jane a victim and Rochchester a villain. But I don’t see that. I see a brave woman willing to stand up to a strong man, and I see a strong man love her. He was no angel, but he also isn’t a villain. He does some very human things. He isn’t this great romantic hero. He is simply a man in love and not sure what to do with it
