Wow, did not see this coming. I know he hasn’t performed at Yuki’s level yet, but given De Vries’ previous achievements I would assume that he would eventually adapt. Feels like something must have gone sour internally between him and the team to get chucked out before the summer break.

The Alfa Romeo title sponsor deal is ending in 2023 as well. Feels like a bit of a shame for AlphaTauri to rebrand when they finally can get the “Alpha” abbreviation to themselves.

It is an interesting season if you look at the AM vs Merc vs Ferrari podium fights. But you know at the start of the weekend with high certainty which of the national anthems that are going to play on the podium. The 2021 season was peak excitement in recent years since it had a tight battle for 1st instead of 2nd or 3rd.

As a European I quite like the late races, frees up the day for other things.

I’m heading to Suzuka this year, my second time going to an F1 event. My first one was Spa a couple of years ago. I remember having a great time at Spa, but being quite annoyed at the on-site commentary alternating between 4 different languages.
