Not as far as I’m aware of. Window’s built in magnifier has greatly improved over the years however, it used to be very poor quality at bigger sizes. But the windows magnifier has gotten better and is very functional, and if FS can’t deliver on Zoomtext’s big selling point (crystal clear “xFont” texts), then zoomtext has gotten worse.

Appreciate the input. Do we have any idea the price range of the Optima yet?

Honestly, I’d be super impressed with a $2000 price point, especially when you consider the only all-in-one “alternative” is $4000 or more notetakers that have less processing power and capabilities than my phone.

The edit he made was weird, though. This is what he ran:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts] “Segoe UI (TrueType)”=“” “Segoe UI Bold (TrueType)”=“” “Segoe UI Bold Italic (TrueType)”=“” “Segoe UI Italic (TrueType)”=“” “Segoe UI Light (TrueType)”=“” “Segoe UI Semibold (TrueType)”=“” “Segoe UI Symbol (TrueType)”=“” HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes] “Segoe UI”=“Myanmar Text”

I resolved the problem simply by changing the last line to:

“Segoe UI”=-

That resolved the issue with my taskbar.

But I have no idea why he thought his edit would fix my problem. I’m not entirely sure he had any idea why he thought it would, either.

He didn’t do anything to resolve the issue with Zoomtext not working properly, that remains outstanding, not that I’m feeling super inclined to keep trying.

I’m running a 12700k with a 3080ti, more than capable of running Zoomtext.

I tried:

  • Upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 so as to match my laptop, on the chance there was some sort of win10 issue.
  • Reinstalling my graphics drivers, clean installs, tried both the “game” and “studio” versions, and tried an older release.
  • Looking to see if there was a Zoomtext device in my graphics devices, I thought that’s how it used to work, couldn’t find anything. (Reinstalled Zoomtext after this, nada.)
  • Unplugging my monitor from my GPU, plugging it into my motherboard, and changing the default display adapter to that.
  • Trying the “compatibility mode” display adapter in Zoomtext.
  • Installing a previous version of Zoomtext.

Nothing. I honestly wouldn’t know where to start in troubleshooting beyond that.

Neat, just joined! It’s been a while since I’ve used IRC, I feel so rusty lol.
