Nice OP!

Same here, if anything this whole thing has done me a favour. Many times the past year i’ve considered giving up reddit. I tend to scroll reddit when I play with the dog after walkies, and the amount of time my brain says ‘why you do this shit?’ as I scroll past nothing, looking at comment chains of constant bickering. Why am I scrolling pasts hundreds of pointless comments, meandering bad takes, puns, the time wasted…for what gain? It was kinda an addiction I guess.

The first day has been great tbh, Memmy feels good despite the instance’ slowness. The Hot filter is pretty good for catching newISH posts, or light comment posts which i’ve been tagging onto.

It really feels like old school forum days, and it’s been really awesome to have my inbox popping off with replies. What’s the point of lots of comments like a big reddit thread when no one replies or even sees your comment? Really looking back, it was just pissing in the wind.

Or if you did get a reply over on pigboycity, it would be some massive drangus trying to start a fight. Just ugh. I deleted my posts and account yesterday, now reddits just gonna be my suffix for google searches when I need something (until the fed starts getting indexed over the coming months/years).

I also really like the look here. old.reddit to me always looked shit from a UI standpoint (Despite being massively better than New, of course). lemmy.world just looks concise without being overwhelming. I’m excited to see growth and engage with real people again just like the old days.

It just had an update that fixed it, something to do with lemmy.world’s recent update.

So dumb.

PS - It’s quite awful reading reddit after being here. I uninstalled RES, and good lord reading the comment chains now is ghastly.

This is why we can’t have nice things! Something something more money, right?

I prefer Memmy right now but wefwef is just as awesome.

One major thing I’d like is tapping the top bar to return to the top after scrolling down.

One minor, which no app has yet is auto marking as read as you scroll past posts (no upvoting, no image opening or opening comments).

Just pure, lazy scrolling like Apollo

It’s cool right? HOT filtering is giving me that Reddit-All style content which I enjoy(ed). I love finding niches.

Happy to see it!

Wefwef is kinda silly but it has the SEO for it, nothing else on the net will not be the app right?

If I googled voyager I’m picturing some Star Trek results n other random shit (thinking of new people googling or searching the App Store)

Phoebus is cool, but might run into generic SEO and like Tildes……’howd ya say it IRL? Feeebus?? Foe-bus’

500 upvotes in 2 hours?! Fuck yes bois. Fuck that jailbait mod spez, and his shit website full of toxic spakkers.

I’m desperate for any of these apps to have auto-mark-as-read once you’ve scrolled past it on your phone, like Apollo. I’ll pop open comments if i’m interested. But I wanna see pics/read comments and not see the same thread again.

I’m happy I can at least mark things as read by looking at a pic, opening comments or upvoting but yeah…auto-read will be amazing and bring my consumption level to Apollo levels.

edit: of course, amazed by the progress of all developers in such a short time.

I was super sceptical about the whole fed thing, but now we have apps (Memmy!!) it’s exactly like Reddit more or less.

Yeah it’s really nice to know people will see and reply to your shit.

I’ve also noticed the filtering options seem better recently? Hot used to be shitty and active gave too much hours old stuff (but good to catch anything you missed)

Found this under hot, so I’m rewiring my consumption to sim my engagement to the newish posts here.

Shit rocks, fuxk that other place. Who needs em!
