SDF has been having some scaling pains. But it looks like it federated to lemmy.world, how about this link? https://lemmy.world/post/304685
They have already started mass production of the cells at CATL, etc. I would guess building packs and larger products on that will take some development, a year or two? But I see 18650 sodium ion cells on Alibaba, although I couldn’t say if they are actually as advertised.
Edit, I suppose it depends what you mean by consumer use. Are you asking when they’ll be in every corner hardware store? Or when people can buy cells/packs for DIY projects online (which would be something you can do now).
You will be pleased to know that Lemmy went to the source a few weeks back: https://lemmy.sdf.org/post/151820
And what’s with the electrical blowouts and explosions? There’s no need to run high voltage or plasma throughout the bridge, these are control systems, it should all be low voltage computers.
They seem to just be looking at hot water production alone for typical home uses. By heating (or even overheating) that water when renewable supplies are abundant using smart controls for time of use plans, it offsets more energy production for far less money than batteries would cost.
Since you’re on another instance, it might need to sync.
If you use the search, and search for !dontstarve@sh.itjust.works
Then wait a few seconds, search again, it should sync and show up and let you click it.
I hope they improve this process in the new version of Lemmy.
I get what you’re saying, but I just can’t agree. Putting a decision early in the onboarding process when they don’t have the context to make an informed decision, it adds a lot of friction. If you are referring friends or members of a community, refer an instance you believe in. If they find out later it doesn’t work for them, they can always move. Personally I found choosing an instance upfront put me off from joining lemmy for weeks. And ultimately it wasn’t a very important decision in the long run as nothing is guaranteed and you can always move.
I agree. The all new feed with federation is the only thing that has enough content for me as well. I could see users moving away from all the involved servers or maybe just beehaw. There are still a lot of instances that link with beehaw, lemmy.world and shitjustworks so you can see everything.
