I’d advocate for player hosted / dedicated servers over “Locals Only”. When you have community tools to regulate toxicity, you end up with a much better community. See also the TFC, TF2, Soldier of Fortune, Jedi Knight, Quake 3, CoD 4, etc… servers I played and admin’ed on growing up.

Hell yes. Good for them. A division of Microsoft of this size being able to collectively work in each others best interest can only have positive effects across an industry that desperately needs it.

Congrats BGS.

We call Republicans hard R’s in our house… it just fits.

Brian Posehn has a great bit about it in his 25x2 special.

I had such high hopes for split screen co-op on this one! I will never understand why this feature hasn’t been implemented in these games yet. My wife and I love to play them together but sometimes it would be easier to do it on one device instead of having to both drag out our laptops.

Braindead aka Dead Alive is a classic for gore. It also skews to the comedy side so it’s more enjoyable on rewatches.

More recently, The Sadness was pretty nasty but definitely more mean spirited. In that same vein, Headless is pretty nasty as well.

Gore is an interesting thing as it can be a single scene or an overall aesthetic i.e. the Evil Dead from 2013 has an insane amount of blood and violence but it’s not outright gore like Rikki Oh and definitely a more pure horror film.

It’s always wild to me how this free market small government shit comes back around and ends up being everybody else’s responsibility once the bills come due.

It gets harder and harder every year to maintain any level of empathy for the people that are stuck in places like Texas where they can’t even maintain a functional power grid to help their citizens survive through the effects of the climate crisis.

I want to continue to be a good person and care about other humans but it’s exhausting.

Yeah, I remember all of the vitriol we spewed at them when it felt like Steam was first being “shoved down our throats”.

But they really are a high-water mark for listening to your customers and acknowledging their feedback to produce positive change for your platform.

Now some 20 years later it really feels like most other interfaces don’t provide the level of service and usability that Steam does.

Any complaints and grievances are always valid about their business practices, the percentage cut that they take and all of the other things. You can’t however say that the platform hasn’t been a boon for PC gaming. Especially on Linux where proton has opened up a whole new world of accessibility especially for games that are too old to run with any sort of consistency on modern Microsoft OSs.

If I was running. restaurant open from “10am-10pm” this would be great hours. Time for the crew to roll in a little late for their 9-930am shifts, enough time at the end of the day for the kitchen to be cleaned and the last load through the dish sanitizer before every customer is out by 945/10pm at the latest.

It actually seems realistic. Haha
