Agreed with everything you said. The anti-Lemmy posts over there are starting to smell like astroturf. Although who knows, a lot of it follows similar anti-Mastodon posts I’ve also read there, so either some people really dislike federated social media that much or Twitter astroturfers were busy on Reddit after the blue bird was “stunned” by Elon.

This was my thought too. Their crawler is marking links unreachable as it re-crawls them.

I’ve been able to post on multiple communities in multiple instances with a single account in one instance. I wonder if you’re running into the issue where some major instances have defederated from each other. Which instances have you tried to post to from your lemmy.ml account?

That sounds cool. I would subscribe if someone creates it.

I’ve been thinking about this too. Only been on Lemmy a few days, so still only have this one account, but definitely considering creating others, for the same reason as I had different accounts on Reddit: to compartmentalize different interests and purposes. For instance, a technology account, a news/politics account, an NSFW account. The cool thing about the Fediverse is that you can also create those accounts on instances that match the purpose of the account, like tech on programming.dev, NSFW on lemmynsfw.com, etc.

Edit: I just realized now upon re-reading your question that it was specific to Lemmy vs. Mastodon. In that case, I would say definitely. I think the two systems are sufficiently different to warrant having separate accounts. I do have another Mastodon account. One on each system for now.

Saving this post because it’s right up my alley so now I have many new games to check out. Project Zomboid is still going strong for us, but here are some others that our group has enjoyed:

Heave Ho: super crude 2D graphics, but absolutely hilarious gameplay

The Ascent: beautiful cyberpunk-themed isometric shooter

Broforce: very entertaining pixel-art 2D platformer/shooter - we played this through to the end, which is rare for us

Overcooked: very entertaining 3D game, not sure what I would even call the genre - a “work” game?

Unrailed: similar to uncooked, but a different kind of “work”

SWAT 4: old 3D FPS, but still good

I agree that this should exist. Communities aren’t always findable through a search if they don’t mention specific keywords being searched by, and sometimes they have odd, unrelated names. That’s where “Find a Lemmy” would fill in a gap.

Here are some that our group has enjoyed:

Project Zomboid: amazingly vast and deep Zombie long-term survival isometric game. If you’re into this, you’ll play for hundreds of hours. The cost-playtime ratio is off the charts.

Heave Ho: super crude 2D graphics, but absolutely hilarious gameplay

The Ascent: beautiful cyberpunk-themed isometric shooter

Broforce: very entertaining pixel-art 2D platformer/shooter (think in the style of Contra, but funnier) - we played this through to the end, which is rare for us

Overcooked: very entertaining 3D co-op cooking isometric game (you’re running a restaurant kitchen)

Unrailed: similar to overcooked, but you’re keeping a train running instead of cooking

SWAT 4: old 3D FPS, but still good. I think this is only at GOG, not Steam

Honorable mention: Hidden in Plain Sight. While not a co-op game, it’s relatively friendly, funny, and not heavily slanted to make better players run away with it because it doesn’t rely heavily on reflexes and coordination. Check it out if you can. Works great for couch play too (everyone playing on the same computer/monitor).

Edit: all of these handle at least 4 players, which was a requirement for us. Some of them, like Zomboid and SWAT, can handle more than 4. I’m not sure how high the others can go.

Edit 2: check https://www.co-optimus.com/ too, if you’re not already familiar with it.

Unfortunately yet another study to back up the analysis from the pinned post (“The Busy Worker’s Handbook to The Apocalypse”).
