https://old.reddit.com/r/pics/ and https://old.reddit.com/r/gifs/ have set excellent examples of how we can move forward in this situation.

Programming, my friend. It solves big rule-based problems pretty well.

You have the perfect opportunity to make a sub and run it. It should fill up quickly with the vast majority of users like you! Everyone wins. This would not be the first time a secondary sub has popped up to resolve disagreements with a previous mod team.

Use an extension that redirects you to archives of posts if you want to see old posts.

Or just wait until Reddit shows their full colors and forces all protesting subs to open.

It’s way past time for DE to make that information (inventory, account statistics) available to us directly.

They can just dump a json file where EE.log is when we log in.

I’m being just as active here as I was there.

There’s more friction to join Reddit than there is to join dormi.zone at this point.

Unlike a lot of Reddit, r/warframe doesn’t really rely on the historical contents as much since we have the wiki, the official forums, the official discord, and the other discord.

I’ve loved Reddit for nearly as long as it has existed, but nothing lasts for ever.

The instant tell for me, from the start, is that having Premium didn’t let you use 3rd party apps.

Well, aside from the CEO’s behavior, anyway.

Why is this whole profit thing a question? Premium is literally “Pay us instead of seeing ads” and it doesn’t matter which frontend is using those resources if you’ve paid for them.

It would have solved all the theoretical problems, but not only didn’t reddit offer it, they rejected it. Totally disingenuous. They don’t want normal profit and money to run the servers, they want complete control over access to the content we generate, and all the metadata around that.

I’m a developer too.

I pay for my API usage, as I should.

It’s priced reasonably, and the companies selling me that usage don’t spread lies about me in private and in public.

I’m also a very long term Reddit user, and I’m completely aware of why Reddit exists. It’s us. It’s the content we make. It’s the time we take to moderate our communities. We made this content before, we put it in usenet and irc and forums. We can put it back there.

Protests haven’t changed their mind?

Reddit before:

  • The protest won’t do anything
  • We won’t remove mods
  • Users will democratically decide to reopen
  • Our revenue won’t be impacted

Reddit now:

  • Banning some mentions of alternatives
  • Removing mods participating in protest/reopening subs if any singular mod agrees
  • Three huge subs have reopened, democratically voted (overwhelmingly) to continue protesting by becoming John Oliver fanclubs
  • Incoherent rants about landed gentry and MUH MONEYS

If you want a warframe subreddit back, make your own. No one’s stopping you. Go ahead and do all the work to set the sub up and run it.

Otherwise, you’re welcome here. You’ve already made an account. Just contribute instead of complaining.

What’s the right way to protest, in your mind, from the position of the mods and users who can’t control other subs?

I’m happier off Reddit than on at this point protest or not, even though I’ve been there from nearly the start. Unless they reverse course on this recent heading, it’s not a place I want to stay.

I already have to heavily curate my reddit experience to have a good time there. I rather smaller communities like this, and I don’t want to spend my time on the official forums for things like this due to how they go.

I’m used to an internet where I used lots of different sites and have different accounts for things. It has upsides.

If I really want to read something that’s only on Reddit I can go read it and participate elsewhere.
