Apollo for lemmy would be great, and it wouldnโt be too hard for Christian to rewrite it to work with lemmy. Heck, people have written proxies which proxy the reddit oauth API to lemmy, so it would be as easy as running one of those proxies and replacing a URL, really.
Thatโs over simplified. Even if they change the data source. Lemmy and reddit have different data structures and the UI would also have to be modified
That would be awesome if it came to fruition! I am so proud of everybody who has brought the Fediverse this far, and that would ice the cake haha.
The difference in data models and APIs, combined with the amount of features Apollo supported would likely make it a fairly large task.
But that aside, he mentioned in an article recently that he doesnโt have an appetite to pivot the app towards Lemmy or another third party: https://www.theverge.com/2023/6/13/23759180/reddit-protest-private-apollo-christian-selig-subreddit

Iโm aware, but there have been efforts to do this, which is what I was referring to:

aww that sucks :-/ maybe he should just put the code on github and release it as FOSS then if he doesnโt want to work on it
