Being a lib is so easy, you can just say anything and if it’s wrong, just bring up “Tianmen” square.
i dont think there’s any value in continuing to communicate with that person. but if you must i would just tell him if he want’s to talk about china he’s more than welcome to fuck off and find someone else who wants to argue about it with him. you don’t have to defend any point you’re not making, and if you try they’ll just bring up some other bullshit gotcha they can use to justify to themselves that you’re still somehow wrong despite being factually correct.
There’s really no value in continuing to communicate with anyone. Anyone reachable has already found their way here on their own.
You don’t convince people of anything with one internet argument. Still, I think it’s worth it to try and state and defend your beliefs publicly. It may or may not sway anyone but it does at least force you to examine and understand your beliefs so that you can competently defend them.
Unquestionably false. Everyone has different experiences on different timelines relative to each other. Maybe you would have been hopeless if you weren’t here by now, but other people didn’t come to lemmy at the same time, have the same interactions, have the same broader background, etc.
