She’s very difficult to deal with, because she has a problem with everything. (My mother in law, not my wife) She complains about everything that everyone does, screams at anyone nearby almost constantly, but she’s almost completely helpless and depends on people to take care of her. My wife is the most compassionate and caring person to ever stand on this earth and even she has had enough.

The real reason, I suspect, for the anger at her daughter having sex the first time wasn’t so much about the sex, it was coming from a fear that my daughter loves this man and he will take her away. The MIL has decidedthat any problem can be solved by screaming at it. When the wife was just the girlfriend and later the fiancé, she spent a lot of time at my house because nobody was yelling at my house, so it became a self fulfilling prophecy. This young woman had a decision: “Which mental health issue would I rather deal with?” And it came down to whatever her mom has, or being stuck with a mechanically inclined awkward weirdo who reads too much and is probably on the spectrum. I’m glad she chose me.
