My wife and I started talking about this after she had to help an old lady at the DMV figure out how to use her iPhone to scan a QR code. We’re in our early 40s.

You can already see millennials shying away from newer things Gen Z is into. Like TikTok. I think it’s an inevitability.

Yeah we may shy away from it, but it’s not because we can’t figure out HOW to use it.

I’m not really assuming that boomers all shy away from technology because they can’t understand how to use it. They might think it’s just stupid or don’t understand why it’s popular, and don’t see any appeal to using it. Such as the actual content may be what turns them away, not the tool itself.

I’ve had plenty of older people straight up tell me they don’t want to learn a thing because they just think it’s dumb.

Shying away from TikTok isn’t a result of not understanding it; it’s a result of understanding how exploitative it is all too well.

I shy away from it because vertical photos and videos are a god damn sin and I will have no part of it. Not falling into that, or even possibly being spied on for using it is just a fringe benefit of thinking it was a dumb idea. Same with Twitter; the concept itself was the dumbest thing I had ever heard, so I never even used it once.

Bro I know how to use it, I just think it’s stupid, exploitative malware.
