some libs and baby leftists are kinda baffled by the trump banter here and don’t know what’s serious and what’s irony

If you were in new at all in the past week there were numerous posts of people pushing the line to see how far they could take the bigotry and slurs. I get we’re all doing a fun thing acting like it didn’t happen but yeah. I’m not digging through people’s post histories.

There were several posts like this. I had to throw a shit fit and put a target on my back to get the post removed. They think its very funny to pretend like this didn’t happen.

So again I will restate: If anyone wants any non-hivemind answers to any questions, I’m happy to oblige.

Maybe I wasn’t in new in the past week because I didn’t see this. I think it’s weird for a new account to vaguepost about hexbear bigotry in a thread where the title implies it will be shown to outsiders. I don’t want to dismiss what you’re saying in case you’re telling the truth, but it’s pretty suspicious, and it would be less suspicious if you could give any details at all.

I think the post itself was what malingeringwastrel took issue with. If you read past the first sentence it starts to sound pretty flippant and weird.

Even if it was, there’s still no slurs?

this also doesn’t include slurs? it’s a joke about the slur filter. you literally can’t post slurs through it and, as the admins noted in the thread, if you try, you’ll get banned because they log people who post slurs removed by the filter. I’ve reported people who have used spacing to post a slur through it and the mods immediately deleted the post.

I can interpret the thread innocently but I can also see where malingeringwastrel would start to see something between the lines if there were a bunch of posts like that in a short period, which is what they are claiming. It makes sense to be suspicious of a new account but I can also see where someone genuine might be coming from.

oh no I get the suspicion, I was also a little sus of those posts. it’s just weird to make more out of them than is actually in the threads, especially on a days old account.

no that’s not what they’re upset about. Playing around with the slur filter was a little weird. I think the intent of the thread was just to celebrate the slur filter, but – and, I don’t want to put words in their mouth lol, but I’m just trying to take the burden off them having to explain with no backup – I think the ambiguity was kinda uncomfortable for this user, like “do some of these people just want to say slurs and have the slur filter cover it for them?” and they had seen some other kinda weird posts lately, and it started to feel like a pattern.

They’re not saying “people are joking about the slur filter in a way that makes me suspicious” they’re saying:

There is a group of 15 ish I would guess people who who like to stir shit by posting racist stuff because they know it will set me off and cause a scene.

Sorry, I’m open to the idea that racist shit is said on HB and even that some of it doesn’t get reported and removed, but the implication here (by someone with a 2-day old Hexbear account, on a Lemmy.ml thread) that there is a problem with HB users being actively racist. If you want to throw such a serious accusation like that around you need better evidence than this

Yeah I know what you mean. I find the user credible enough that at minimum I don’t want to see them bullied or ganged up on, but I agree it’s a little sus from a new account. I don’t think we’re gonna resolve the ambiguity either, since I get the impression this user doesn’t have the energy to prosecute a case and dig for more examples. At the end of the day I’d rather err on the side of being receptive to complaints that might be difficult or uncomfortable for the user to articulate, at the risk of letting a vagueposting wrecker slide, as long as the potential wrecker’s not too bad.

I appreciate it. I’m literally not trying to be a pain in the ass I just absolutely cannot abide bigotry. This isn’t my first rodeo going through this. The staff needs to decide if ironic bigotry is expressly allowed and stop being cowards and say it, or they need to have the mods start removing it.
