Diet coke is at least widely considered a potable beverage. It’s more like asking if you’d rather have a quart (that’s just shy of a liter) of 190 proof grain alcohol rather than bleach. It might not kill you but it will definitely leave you incapacitated.

Then why make the choices that leave bleach as the only option? America is nowhere near progressive enough to vote in a social democrat let alone a socialist so why make bleach the option?
But why make it more likely sooner? Im really not convinced the USA will ever stop being a fascist dictatorship once it takes hold.
Its not a good analogy, but regardless of what we use, the truth is people have no choice what the options are. Elections are mainly spectacle to make people feel like this is a democracy and that they have agency.
Its not a question of whether “America” is “progressive” enough, because the people of America are not even making the choice. They are merely affirming the choices of capital.
Recognizing that its just spectacle and an illusion of choice is an important step of seeing thr system for what it is. This isn’t a democracy for anyone but the capitalist class.
To use the bad analogy though, if bleach is one of the two options why is there an election anyway? That in and of itself is enough to invalidate the process as illegitimate.
