Why? Itās useful for people who struggle to read the tone of replies, and letās be honest, thatās happened all of us at some point.
What I want to see die is the ridiculous swapping of letters for symbols in words like r@pe or su!cide. This is not TikTok or Instagram, your Reddit/lemmy posts are not monetised. You do not need to censor trigger or swear words.
Itās messy and dumb. People should be able to figure it out through context. Even if they canātā¦ who cares. Makes zero difference if people donāt get it. This isnāt reddit. Youāre not collecting karma. Itās irrelevant if you get down voted.
It takes a millisecond to add /s for context, and itās helpful for a lot of people. It has nothing to do with karma or downvotes.
