I have an account on lemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com and honestly I spend 90% of my time on that account just blocking shit I don’t want to see.

No, you don’t need 80 communities for bondage. No, you don’t need 1000 communities for gay porn. No, you don’t need 10,000 communities for women just being naked.

Community bloat is the main reason I still use Reddit for porn.

They need more gay communities, they just need to split them up. 30 generic “gay” communities is less useful than splitting it up and making twinks, bears, straight guys, painal, hookup/anon, et cetera. Fucking irritating as hell that most porn sites just have a single gay category. I haven’t used Lemmynsfw since early days, so it might be better now, but it was mainly several generic gay communities and nothing was categorized.

I’d agree with you, except it’d be nice to be able to block broad categories of communities without having to play whack-a-mole when a new one comes up, for instance the 500 anime ones

That would be nice. I’d love to be able to block languages that I don’t speak

Ah yes Reddit which famously has only three porn communities, way less than Lemmy!

The main difference with Reddit is there isn’t an entire instance that’s just porn.

You have to go looking for it

On lemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com the main feed was originally the only real way to find any communities and it still is for new communities. The problem is the same as what people complain about on the non porn instances. One person will post the same thing in 12 “different” communities resulting in seeing the same post 12 times in a row or some shit.

I put different in quotes because there’s multiple communities that are for the exact same niche with most of them sharing most if not all of the same content.

Acktchually, there are very subtle and complex differences between c/butts, c/amazingbutts, c/cutebutts, c/pronebutt, c/standingbutt, c/frogbutt, but I wouldn’t expect anyone but the most cultured ass-man to notice.

Can’t you just do it the other way around and only subscribe to the communities you want to see? Isn’t that how it’s supposed to work anyway?
