Yep. But the argument is always, like, how much should you really be going for max coins, in a multiplayer race? And how much does that really affect who wins?

Are the people who collect all 10 coins that you can hold winning because they’re 10 percent faster, or do they just wind up with all 10 coins more often, because they aren’t getting knocked out as much? And therefore, those are also the fastest people, so they win more races?

People argue over the minutia of this shit.

There is no need to argue, go into time trail, complete a track twice. Once with coins and once without and you’ll notice a very significant difference (depending on skill ofcourse). Trying to go for records and missing one coin early on just kills your chances. I cant quantity how much though, but it’s really significant.

Oh, there’s definitely still a need to argue.

Time trials are not the same as head-to-head racing. I ask the same questions again: are the people who keep hold of 10 coins in multiplayer games always the ones who win?

When they are the ones who win, are they winning because of the speed advantage, or are they winning because they’re the ones who avoided being hit by shells, etc, and therefore have an advantage over people who ARE getting hit?

Would they have won anyway, then, even if they didn’t pick up any coins? Or did they need to both avoid being knocked out AND pick up those coins, in order to win?

I guarantee you can’t completely put all those questions to rest. And so it’s a perfect topic to bring up, if you want people to endlessly debate, without any hope of resolution.

Time trail just demonstrates the effect for you if you look at the splits. Having 10 coins is a major advantage and will increase your chances of, grabbing the lead and staying first. Every time you have a larger amount of coins will ensure that even if you get hit, you still have more coins than the person behind you. Literally being the difference between getting an overtake opportunity again or falling further behind.

That is a very different question from your post, Mariokart is an arcade racer with a lot of RNG, no-one can guarantee a win with that much RNG. What you can do is increase your chances dramatically.
