The lemmy.world instance was just updated to version 0.18.2. The login issues that were being reported (for example, here) are now resolved.
For release notes: https://lemmy.world/post/1339018
Edit for those who still have issues logging in:
- When using a browser: clear cookies and cache
- When using an app: remove your lemmy.world account and add it again.
The most important one:
The security issue got officially patched! https://join-lemmy.org/news/2023-07-11_-_Lemmy_Release_v0.18.2
Lemmy.world was already running a version with this security patch but indeed thatโs also in 0.18.2!
Anyone using Liftoff - if you canโt log in, or keep getting logged out, remove and re-add your account:
Settings from top right
Accounts
Long press the account
Click Remove
Then add the account again
Fwiw, I skipped to the last step and it worked. Didnโt have to remove the account, re-adding the existing account still worked
Update seems to be running pretty smooth, but (and maybe I missed it) I think it would be super awesome if you put up a banner ahead of time letting people know you are doing a maintenance or update or something at X:00 pm EST or something.
To suddenly settle down and log in to post and support the platform only to be hit with a shit ton of confusing issues, then everyone posting about the same issues, then getting an update about what happened that caused the issues after the fact is less than ideal.
Again, maybe yโall did and I missed it, but a little banner with a heads up would beโฆ
Unrelated but are you the same Antik that has graffiti all over Amsterdam?
No but I saw them too! I considered it a tribute, so thanks whatever his tagname is! ๐
