The UN had supplies for a humanitarian crisis. 1+ million people are being evacuated, and more bombs have now been dropped than an entire year in Afghanistan. Is this not a humanitarian crisis?
If Hamas is the government, and the aid is there, then the government has received the aid that the UN delivered?
I’m sure there’s more to this, that’s not mentioned, but the context is odd.
Hamas does occupy governmental positions, but they’re also demonstrably linked to terrorist actions which they take full responsibility for, and I think that takes precedence for most people. With that, many of us are reticent to call them a government.
To your point though, if we can trust wikipedia and if I’m reading it correctly, the ministry of health in Gaza seems to also be under Hamas governance, so I’m not sure who else you’d deliver the foreign aid too.

Other countries, including New Zealand, deem only Hamas’ military wing, which is called the Qassam Brigades, to be a terrorist group. The U.N. has not designated any part of the organization as a terrorist group.
There isn’t any indication that it was Hamas that stole the stuff? It just that people pretending to be the health authority stole stuff. Could’ve been some selfish asshole civilians who stole shit for themselves when they knew they were likely not priority for that aid.
Why weren’t the supplies properly secured? This was going to happen otherwise.
Love all the downvotes from people who have no concept of opsec. Please keep making excuses for them.
My goodness the hivemind has migrated. Pointing out a mistake is apparently a grave error.
They were. If you had read the article, Hamas posed as government workers to gain access, and the security cameras that look over the compound were damaged in Israeli airstrikes.
I did read the article. How is that not part of properly securing the supplies exactly? Not properly vetting people is a security issue.
Who exactly is meant to do this securing?
That would necessarily require some amount of military force, and the only party interested in that right now, the IDF, has other priorities at the moment.
Like I said, not my fault you and so many others have no concept of opsec. Well done summing it up though.
No, I was mocking you. Good job on absorbing that without acknowledging the fact you’re a laughing stock.
Eh fuel and medicine doesn’t help Hamas kill more people. So who cares. And yeah they might use meds to patch up militants, but guess what, laws of war state that wounded soldiers are allowed medical help.
What the hell kind of shit take is this? This article has nothing to do with the US. As eager as you may be are (after checking post history you have a hardon for asshole comments about the US) to shit all over our government at every opportunity, this story isn’t one of them.
Go fuck yourself. I’m not the one raging about the US in every other comment I write.
What’s my option to not pay taxes? Go on hunger strike and starve to death, or be thrown in prison by the IRS?
