And then you’ve got the comment roulette where you don’t know if your comment went through or not because sometimes it actually times out but it also posts your comment while saying it timed out
That’s what causes the duplicate comments you occasionally see on lemmy
Copy and paste before you hit post. However, in a properly configured instance, this isn’t a problem. /lemm.ee smugness
What really annoys me though, is when you type out a long comment, then see another comment below, click to upvote it and lose your entire comment.
Before 0.18.2, whenever I posted something from my instance, and that post contained an image, I would get the spinning animation on the button and after like 5 minutes I would get some error (likely a timeout). But despite that, the post would actually show up, so it was probably timing out on some confirmation stage.
But after I updated the instance to 0.18.2, it’s been working fine, so hopefully it stays that way
I just wanted to say that you’re my favourite Lemmy user OP!
Not selecting a language option solved this problem for me
It tells Lemmy what language you’re post is in. If users have that language disabled in their settings, they won’t see it
But language seems to get autoassigned in a lot of places, which is what I think the root cause of this bug is. If you need to set a language for a post, just do it after it’s already submitted
I’m confused, do you mean I need to select a language or I need to not have a language? 10% of my posts just spin and never post. It’s incredibly frustrating, especially if you just did a big write up with formatting and multiple links.
I can’t see the post I make :(
