Imagine sitting through class presentations and some incel tries to bully a girl, badgering her with questions and a “this is common knowledge” attitude all because he is so fucked in the head he thought she was mocking him.

Now imagine a girl doing the same and you won’t think twice about it.

What? Of course I would. Assholes asking questions the presenter clearly wasn’t prepared to answer with an assholeish attitude suck regardless of gender.

Getting her crying is satisfying enough.

Can totally understand that. Been preparing to destroy someone for 3 decades. The end will be glorious.

If you’re three decades into trying to destroy someone, and you haven’t done anything yet, you’re just lying to yourself.

So long story shot. When I was a kid (7/8 y/o), an extended family member kicked us (me and my direct family) out of our family house when my dad and uncle passed away.

Unfortunately, there was a dispute of this said house and blah blah law this and that. Homeless.

The said guy got ahold of the house and been staying there.

Fast forward today, been working hard to get monies. I got a wind of family conflict of this guy, money issue is apparently the cause so he attempted to sell the house. I bought the house through third party (friend’s name) and I rent it back to him.

Soon he will have a granddaughter or grandson, the day he returns back home with the newborn will be the day I kick the whole family out.

Also, they are still dwelling on it after leaving college. I guarantee that it didn’t go down like they say and there’s either embellishment going on or it’s what they wished they would have done, but it never happened

I feel like if that comes easily to someone, it’s a kind of privilege. Pretty normal human thing to get hung up on petty insults, especially if someone is not in a position to be very self assured. Maybe there are better ways of dealing with it though.

I don’t know, kind of sounds like they learned something and that’s a win.

Sometimes indignation can lead to amazing things, somebody told me in 2000 that I couldn’t make a 3D game for the web using 2D software and I felt so challenged and pissed-off I actually programmed a 3D rendering engine using that tool so I could make a virtua tennis style game playable on the web.

A world first out of spite.

Edit: In case anybody cares the tool was Macromedia Director which was a 2D raster authoring tool that you could use to make Shockwave games. And the feature that came out in (I think) patch 6.5 made 2D sprite skewing a thing which enabled me to make this!

I think it’s already been explained for the most part in other comments but yes, here (UK) there’s a difference between college (post-16 A-level equivalent) and university (post-18, requires college or A-level first)

A university is a college but a college is not necessarily a university. (At least in the U.S)

Community colleges and State colleges vary from Universities usually that Universities require graduate programs. Not sure all the specifics but if you want an Associates degree you can usually get one at either. A masters degree you can’t normally get at a State College. (Exceptions might exist, I’m sure someone will shit on my breakdown and correct it haha)

Not everyone lives in the US. Here in the UK College and University are very different things.

It doesn’t matter where you live. I just hate the term “uni”. Say “my university”, “NYU”, “Princeton”, or something like that. I don’t have an objective argument against it. I just don’t like it. It’s like the word " ain’t ". It’s in the dictionary now and technically acceptable, but I hate it.

permalink

Ain’t was always a valid contraction for “am not”, but too many people misused it until grammarians convinced everyone it wasn’t a real word. Besides, words aren’t handed down from on high. If it’s in the dictionary it’s because it was already in use. What’s the point of a dictionary if you can’t look up the words people are using?

You realize that universities outside the US and UK only have a very nondescript moniker or some obscure title that would not help you identify it in the slightest, right?

I could say “Back in TU Heidelberg” and you would look like a personified questionmark.

Something similar: knew a girl that was wrote her bio master and she was like “you’re all below me”, one day she asked me to read her work for spelling mistakes, took a week intensively researching the topic and made several remarks on wrong sources/ better sources, found data assignment mistakes and content errors and wrote a comprehensive critic to the work. I’m feeling kinda sorry for what I did, she never handed the work in & is now a single mom. I’m far from the only reason for it, but I think that it pushed her over the edge with the decision to give up her academic career for good. Ooopsie.

She has a vagina. A lot of dudes will put up with a lot of shit in exchange for sex. Doesn’t take long to get someone pregnant if you’re not careful (barring medical issues of course).

I really don’t understand what drives people to make these type of comments.

Bro whether it happened or not doesn’t really matter. They’re not trying to sell you a scientific study. It’s an anecdote. Even if it is fake it’s not going to destroy your life or financially bankrupt someone. Do you yell at Comedians saying that they’re lying about a funny story? Do you question everyone in your life and call them all out too if you don’t believe them?

The absolute worst that could come from lying about a random funny story is causing someone to let out a disappointed sigh if they find out it is fake. Compare that to the disruption of someone always showing up and saying “It didn’t happen.” I know which I prefer…

The above op said “she was like” which is predictive text but no real story about how they got to that conclusion so I’m getting the feeling they themselves are an unreliable narrator. I’d take a beat before jumping in and entirely vilifying someone you don’t even know described by another person you don’t even know. It is the internet after all.

Why do people act like assholes don’t get into relationships? Have you taken a look at real life? They get into abusive relationships based on constant resentment that often break fairly soon, but they do get into relationships.

Hey so you said :”she was like” but you didn’t really offer explicit acts about her behaviour confirming that’s really what she thought. It’s predictive text.

So did she really say you were below her or was that a feeling you get when you meet a confident person and determine this on your own because of feeling self conscious around that?

Her “bio master” as in her Master’s thesis? Why would she not have someone in her cohort read it? What happened with her PI? Were they just not checking in on her work at all? How could they get so far into a Master’s that she’s in the process of writing her thesis that you could find better sources in a week?

permalink

Sounds like the above person was cohort. They didn’t really specify they weren’t just that she asked them. So there was probably a reason and she trusted them.

I figured they weren’t since they described her as acting like she was better than them for her degree. It made it sound like that put her apart from them but idk.
