Whipped cream & strawberries between fluffy slices of shokupan is highly underrated as dinner.

No thanks, I hate them, too much sugar :D

Yeah, I’m not a fan of the fruit/cream ones at all. The bread here is already largely sweet enough.

Seriously what the fuck

I will never eat a strawberry sando

It’s impossible to tell what the other two are but the strawberry sandwich makes me scared

Never say never! Sweet sandwiches, especially ones with a slightly tart fruit like strawberry can be delicious. Please be open to trying even just a bite if the opportunity presents itself!

Especially if it’s free. Who would say no to free food?

I have no problem with strawberry jam sandwitches, but this just doesn’t sit right.

Idk why people are so freaked out by it. It doesn’t seem that different from layer cake.

Top left: egg salad. Other one: butakatsu, aka deep fried pork cutlet

These three must be the standard/favorites across the board.

The few places that make these around me have the exact same ones.

Japan calls sangas, sandos? Love it.

Think strawberry shortcake taste more than wonderbread and fruit. They’re not bad, I much prefer a katsu sando but fruit is “ok.”

It’s basically strawberry shortcake

The downside of they only LOOK thick and full. They pad the very front, and the rest is basically bread. At least, the ones from the combini are.

Depends on the store and the sandwich. Some katsu sandwiches are thick the whole way through, but also usually around 500 yen.

Yeah, and that’s why they’re ¥500. Lawson does have those thick katsu ones with the nice bread, but most conbini sandwiches in the plastic wrap like these are mostly cheap bread and false advertising.

these are from a place in bellevue wa that specializes in them.

and feiw have been all over europe & asia but japan is hands down my favorite place to visit ever.

tokyo is a monster of a great city … foreign as you can get but amazingly easy to navigate.

very nice people, terrific food city with a really old beautiful culture.

all i can offer for advice is to not over think it. find a flight and hotel in your budget and just do it. guarantee you won’t be disappointed ❤️

Sounds more like dessert than dinner to me. I’m sure it’s delicious.

Egg salad, yes. Pork cutlet, hell yes.

Not at all interested in a strawberry sandwich though, thanks.
