These fucking morons. If only there was an option where everyone in a country could pool their resources together and healthcare share according to each one’s need. But naw… that doesn’t exist. Certainly better to do it ad hoc and with zero transparency while giving theocratic cretens full control over your health
I had someone who was selling insurance tell me about how increasing the pool was always a good thing. When I asked if that meant universal coverage would be the best scenario, they said “No, then you would include all the unhealthy people” which was pretty telling on how difficult it would be to get them to pay out coverage.
They literally think that because the government would be running it, it would be wasteful and evil. Somehow their religious based nonprofits obviously don’t have waste and politicking.
They don’t seem to comprehend that large numbers of humans working together is exactly what creates the need for red tape, politics, political correctness, bureaucracy, regulations… oh wait, shit, we made government again.
All evidence around the world proves that government run healthcare costs less per person with better outcomes for the whole population. The lower cost is obvious since there is not profit cost on top of not needing for a ton of private companies to spend money doing a ton of individual contracts with each other as an additional cost before profit.
Even with some corruption public ends up being cheaper than private. Other than the profitilability, most countries make the rich pay more of the cost through progressive taxes and the rich sure do hate paying their fair share.
That’s the result of decades of brainwashing us in the US against anything government run. Can’t allow anything to be socialized lest the billionaires rake in slightly less money than they already do.
Not everything has to be like the DMV. Hell, even the DMV is efficient where I’m at.
why do they even need a bill. insurance companies have requirements in coverage which these seem to be ignoring. they just have to crack down. its hard to tell though if they are acting as insurance companies or just a scam. does the irs recognize people in them as being insured?
To make it clear that there is not a religious exception for scams (in this specific csse).
yeah. I guess the article at times make it sound like health insurance but yeah it really sounded more like a straight up scam.
The true power of religion is the ability con people as in scams like these “health care sharing ministries”.
I hear ads for these “services” on the radio multiple times an hour. I knew they had to be a scam somehow, and assumed that they would be as dishonest as possible even outside of reproductive care. Nothing good ever seems to come from organized religion.
John oliver actually has a decent piece on this.
Basically just healthcare, but the “company” paying your bill not only gets to pick and choose what they do and dont cover like every other insurance company, they also get to choose if you morally “deserve” the healthcare. Spoiler, if a decision can be based on ‘morals’, that means the decision is 100% up to the person in power. “Not being a good enough Christian” is just as good a reason as “your doctor isn’t in network” for them.
