I’m talking about those that play the same games 2 or more times. You already know how the game plays and you know how the story goes. Wouldn’t you rather spend that time playing a new game? I’ve only got so much time to play and a I have huge backlog. I never found myself picking an game I’ve played already over a new one. I’d like to know your thoughts.

Because you like the feel of a game. The gameplay, the atmosphere, the ambiance. I guess this is more for people who play games because of the literal gameplaying aspect. Not people who play because they want to watch cutscenes. For example i played FEAR maybe 50 times. Why ? Because of the gameplay. Because of how weapons feel to shoot, how the combat scenarios unfold, how the AI behaves. That i know how the story unfolds has negative importance or interest

The same reason people rewatch movies and reread books. Entertainment is not lost just because we know what’s coming and desperately require something new, which is extra funny considering how few new things actually feel refreshing, unique or original.

This isn’t rocket science.

Flashbacks to me playing a single level over and over again in Gex 3 because I was just having fun playing it.

Tbh Is really hard for me to replay a singleplayer game right now. But as a child, there was some games that I would definitelly call “confort games” and I would replay it many, many times, never getting tired of it. They were the same, from start to finish, but I was getting better at it in every new run and that made the game even more enjoyable.

Some games are built for replayability.
