What is their cited reasoning for bailing? A unified effort to prevent voter fraud sounds great - why in the world would any of the states want out of it? Makes you wonder about how serious those states are about eliminating fraud in the first place…

On top of this, ERIC helps states to remove voters who have moved and send voter registration information to those who have moved into their jurisdiction. Republicans don’t want more people being enrolled to vote. The more people vote, the more they lose.

It’s almost as if all things Republican politicians say are performance. Like their real goal is naked power at what ever cost. That they will exploit every possible path, I would say that if they though they could do it by being not racist, they would. They have absolutely no principle other than self-enrichment.

What if, and this is a big if, but what if they ran on policies most people actually wanted?

I know it sounds crazy, but they could actually maintain power by just giving voters what they ask for instead of doing everything possible to serve corporate and religious institutions.

I have been saying this for years. The two party system is only a failure when one of the parties decides to stop serving the people. But they are so hung up on outdated ideology and corporate interests that they don’t care to lose the vote of their constituents. So I have to always vote for the other party since it’s the only party that will serve me. My vote literally becomes a vote to continue existing, because the other party would prefer I didn’t. No democracy there.

I know the most obvious response is that they’re doing this because they want to commit voter fraud, but I read a really inciteful insightful comment the other day about how republicans think, that I feel applies here.

They cannot handle being told what to do. Even if it’s for obvious public good. Even if it is for THEIR benefit. If they feel they’ve been ‘told’ to do it, they will not do it. It’s quite pathetic and infantile.

You will never meet more childish adults than conservatives. So that statement checks out.

Fox News tells them what to think all the time - “oh that’s just Republicans being reactionaries” is not very credible.

Perhaps it’s best to clarify that Republicans don’t like being told what to do by anyone other than Republicans. And even then, it’s their select “idols.” That they’re okay with. Because they’ll turn on a republican that tells them to do something in their best interest if it goes against their “beliefs.”

It’s ideology over facts, always.

They probably only joined it just to learn how to circumvent whatever methods were going to be used to prevent voter fraud.
