The picture of the rocket launcher looks like an M72 LAW tube. The M72 is a single use anti tank rocket launcher. So someone got paid at least $100 for their souvenir decoration.

I wondered the same thing when I first read the article. Is it just a tube or does it have a live rocket?

The amount of ghost guns turned in surprised me.

If they’re buying 3D printed guns, then they’re just incentivizing people to print guns for cash. I wonder how many of those are nothing but 3D printed toys that cost the owners a couple of dollars to make.

I was thinking very similar.

  1. Print a replica ghost gun for $n.
  2. Add some ballast to get correct weight.
  3. Sell to SJPD for $100
  4. Profit
  5. Repeat for more profit.

San Jose gun buyback “collected 408 weapons”

Ha! WTG SJ!

Pretty curious about that rocket launcher though.

408 “weapons” that are likely rust buckets, non-functional, old shit you can’t get ammo for any longer, general crap. Hell, I got 3 or 4 junkers I’d get paid for, buy something nicer.

(seeing the pic…)

LOL, that pic has revolvers that fit the bill and loads of those guns are parts. But they are receivers, so fair game! A receiver is the gun after all, and that’s a fair definition and law.

Loads of old ass hunting rifles, which I hate to see get destroyed. Love funsmithing (keeping that typo!) that old shit. How much you wanna bet most of those were the “assault style weapons”? Not seeing any AKs or ARs in that stack. You would think they would be proud of those catches, put 'em front and center.

Think there’s some 40’s and 50’s break-top revolvers. Almost bought one for $100, but good luck finding .38 S&W rounds.

Aw man, I see a 1950’s bolt-action Mossberg 12-gauge in there, whopping 2 shell magazine. Not rare or anything, but it’s a seriously neat shotgun. Refurbed one, but it’s hell to work on and mine still isn’t done. Too frustrating ATM. And something that looks like a WWII rifle? Damn.

And the rocket launcher was a single-use, empty tube. Kinda neat! But, uh, not exactly taking “weapons” off the street.

Got distracted there. What was the benefit of this again?

So WTG SJ!

Seriously, y’all got fooled.
