Yup. Got the pop-up about being out of free articles. Opened a browser I never use (with no ad blocker… Cause I never use it) so I got to experience the site with ads.

The entire experience was hilariously ironic to read about service’s enshitification… While being bombarded with constant ad garbage.

Bye bye wired. That was a waste of my time.

As an aside, I’m using Mull on Android with uBlock Origin on medium mode and I got no ads or pop-ups of any kind while reading the article.

Firefox’s reader mode can also be very useful for this in some cases.

Hopefully, this is something that can help you or someone else since I get to skip most of the ads and annoyances that I see people complain about on articles like this.

Don’t make me fight through cookie requests and opportunities to subscribe just to get past the clickbait, you have the power to give this a better title (or at least tl;dr inn the description!)

Pixelfed is pretty nice in this regard already. you can export your Instagram account data and upload it to Pixelfed, and it’ll add all of your old photos to the PF account and stuff.
