The year is 2080, we solved the climate crisis, we solved the poverty crisis. You live in a pretty chill solarpunk utopia that is considerate, sustainably, just and generally safe. The few dangerous places out there are clearly labelled.

Choose one of those signs and explain why it is displayed where it is.

EDIT: for some reasons up/downvotes do not work for me here. Is anyone having similar problems?

Chaotic System:

Displayed in areas where breeding programs grew out of control, perhaps species in captivity broke out. These areas are totally reclaimed by nature and the ecosystem is incredibly delicate due to over/under population.

People are warned for nature’s sake, diseases or other illnesses carried by people could cause devastating damage. Or there are new strains of diseases in these areas that are immune to vaccinations, superbacteria.

This could also apply to flora, not just fauna. Perhaps a fungus has run wild?

Fungi are more closely related to fauna than flora.

I know, I was just mentioning both of them to expand the options a bit. Wasn’t going for 100% technical accuracy.

You seem to be missing warnings for nanoplastic and microplastic pollution. Also a warning for perchlorate contamination from forever chemicals. And one for wet bulb temperature zones near the equator that require hibernation or protective clothing during daylight hours.

There is no chill 2080 utopia in our future.

I do like the icons, they were a cute distraction.

I am well aware of the problems we are facing. Yet you are in /c/solarpunk. There are tons of dystopian doomer forums I also follow. I just come here for a glimmer of hope.

Are you a bot or did you accidentally mark your account as a bot ? maybe that is the reason upvotes and downvotes don’t work for you?

I had marked myself as a bot! Thanks a lot!

I think I did that a while ago while I was experimenting some scripting but I dont do this on this account anymore.

Yeah, I think that’s actually the problem, I need to unsub from solarpunk because it cultivates a completely illogical view of the future.

The prompt even said that these have been solved, at least the climate crisis. C’mon man. Read the room.

Not that I can see. Does the issue still persist on your side?

Love this!

Do you perhaps have scalable vector file? I’d love it as a background on my thinkpad, of which I already have a large yellow Biohazard ☣ sticker on

Unfortunately not. The artist who did that a while ago used to be a bit litigatious then put everything offline, you only find copies of caches of it.

I am interested if you make one! As a ML engineer I need the self-improving software on my machine as a sticker!

I tried using inkscape to auto-trace the bitmap, the results are subpar. So I traced the one you wanted to print, and maybe some day I will trace the others (but unlikely, besides, I’m not sure what license does this picture have)

Wow looks good, but it’s minimum 9 euros to use it.

So not free…

It was free until recently… I agree that $9 is definitely not an affordable option :-/
