Quickly checked a travel agent here and it’s around €2.5k per person for a ten day plan. I wonder how much I could bring that price down if I were to arrange it all myself. Kind of scary to do it myself though, booking hotels etc. while being clueless.

As long as you book at international hotels you’ll find staff that speak English and are paid to help, especially boogie hotels.

The problem is is that then you’re in China. You’re better off going to a country where people don’t shit in the streets. Like Taiwain, best China.

Which countries? I skimmed the article and didn’t see a mention.

Asking because it is very much not visa free for Russian citizens, despite, ya know, all the political theatre

It is kind of surprising that China still doesn’t allow visa free travel from Russia to be honest. And found the list of countries, amusingly Belarus is on the list.

An interesting question is which side didn’t want to have visa free travel. Entirely possible that the Russian government didn’t want to make travel to China too easy.

Yes there are, the alliance is purely pragmatic due to geopolitical circunstamces. Ideologically russia is aligned with the west, but for some reason the current oligarchs in the west haven’t moved on from cold war russophobia.

Putin constantly says so too. “we are as bourgeois as you, there is no communist party power here, let’s negotiate.”

Then again, it might just be lack of infrastructure to handle tourism coming from russia.

It appears China and Russia are visa-free for each other’s tour groups since 2023.

Yeah the article doesn’t go past European countries to inform about what’s the situation considering Asian countries. Maybe for Russia they want to keep the population usable for the proxy war
