JUST SO YOU KNOW… THEY’RE SORRY FOR ANYTHING THAT’S ABOUT TO HAPPEN

A new street drug that sends its users across time and dimensions has one drawback: some people return no longer human. Can two college drop-outs save humanity from this silent, otherworldly invasion?

If you enjoyed the movie, I suggest looking into the book series. It’s pretty good.

You think I didn’t read a book titled Zoey is too Drunk for this Dystopia? Just look at my name! In all seriousness, I really enjoyed the first two but haven’t read the latest one yet. I need to be in the right place mentally to read those for the first time.

I’m so ready for I’m Starting to Worry About This Black Box of Doom. It looks like a lot of fun.

Anyone stopping by this thread, go check out his work.

I just read that book last week it was excellent. And yes I am excited about that new book already have it pre ordered. I love his writing going all the way back to his days at Cracked.

Is it possible that I read this before it became a book. It was published on some site chapter by chapter?

Yes. That’s how I read it.

iirc he might have put it out on cracked.com before he dropped it into a book, but that was before I had gotten into it.

It was published several times before he got his job at cracked.com. First it was a collection of stories he wrote for Halloween over several years on his blog pointlesswasteoftime.com, then he self-published, then it was published by Permuted Press (a small horror publisher), and finally Thomas Dunne.

A highly imaginative horror comedy from Don Coscarelli, the creator of The Beastmaster and Phantasm. A few more stills…

You can find it on YouTube.

Region-blocked in the US. But we could get to it through an Invidious instance, for example: https://invidious.privacyredirect.com/watch?v=oHfnVn0AmWE

My favorite part was David Wong did a reddit AMA as PR for the movie, and then kept using it.

And it wasn’t one of those things where he was cool and just popped up, he was actually insane.

You’d just randomly see the account pop up and then could catch up on all the crazy you missed.

I always wanted the book sequel made into a movie too tho

“This Book Is Full of Spiders, No Seriously, Don’t Open It” Would make a terrifying movie!!

Yeah. He always reminded me of Philip K. Dick. Or maybe even Hunter.

Dude isn’t well mentally, and I feel sorry for him. But the art he produces is amazing.

I hope he finds a balance

I’d also love to see the first book revisited as like, a 3-4 part mini-series… Give us all the story-lines.

I got the symbol tattooed on the bottom of my big toe like in the book and it faded away.

Personally I’d like to see a good adaptation of Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits.

You know, I used to hate on the movie more than it deserved… Thought it was an terrible interpretation of the book…

However, Jason Pargin himself has come out saying that the movie reinvigorated his writing career, and we wouldn’t have gotten any of the other books, or the zoey series, or anything else without the movie…

I’ve cut the movie a ton more slack since. :P

Given the budget they had to work with, it was as faithful an interpretation as you were going to get. I enjoyed it on the same level as I might enjoy “Are You Afraid Of The Dark” episodes.

But it pales in comparison with the book series. The Lovecraftian vibe you get in some of those chapters is chilling in a way a goofy Evil Dead styling just can’t deliver.

like most book>movies it had to be rushed, there was just so much going on.
