I’ve never understood this.

Seems so impractical, compared to carrying knuckles, a gun, and a knife.

What are you supposed to do, start with the knuckles and flip the thing open into gun mode if things go south? It’s incredibly fussy.

Oh, well that makes more sense.

I’m thinking it’s mostly a weapon of intimidation, personally, but what I don’t know about pre-WW1 French gangsters fills libraries, lmao

Seems like the kind of thing that might be created to circumvent a poorly written law. Like the Gandalf AK meme; ‘ANY knife under 6in is legal’ kind of nonsense.

Amended: ‘ANY knife under 6in without a gun barrel is legal

It’s probably supposed to be concealed so you get to carry one thing. Either knuckles a gun or a knife, this allows you to not have to choose before you gool out at least.
Granted if you think you may need a gun, why not just bring a real one that you can conceal. I don’t know.

I’ve got a North American Arms revolver. You can’t hit anything at 5’, no lie. Somehow this is even worse. LOL, bullets probably come out sideways.

I suspect the ‘gun’ is for use at point blank range, as in, you’ve already stabbed then and haven’t pulled out. As you ssy it’ll be pretty much useless at any longer range, unless making a bang and some amoke is useful.

Historical Artifacts

Just a community for everyone to share artifacts, reconstructions, or replicas for the historically-inclined to admire!

Generally, an artifact should be 100+ years old, but this is a flexible requirement if you find something rare and suitably linked to an era of history, not a strict rule. Anything over 100 is fair game regardless of rarity.
