Heliboard is more feature complete right now, but I’m excited to see where Florisboard goes since theyre making their own glide typing and word suggestions.

I couldn’t use Heliboard because of the forced toolbar of all things. FlorisBoard lets me open and close the toolbar by holding the spacebar and because I don’t need word suggestions and stuff I swapped back to FlorisBoard. Heliboard seemed great, but I just couldn’t get it how I wanted it, so I am extra glad this update has finally arrived!

Oh interesting! I use the toolbar cause word suggestions is like one of my main things, its neat seeing someone who uses it (the app) differently! I’m glad you’re excited about the update :)

Really love this project - still waiting on autocorrect/spell check but happy to wait for them to be ready :)

2 years and still no word suggestions, they are coming with 0.5 but when?

I think Heliboard is a better choice, it is privacy focused and has the same features including wird suggestions.

I was going to ask you to compare it to openboard and am now confused haha… Anyway, while suggestions could use work it is a good program, I have used it for some time.

Heliboard is a fork of openboard. Openboard is not maintained anymore. No updates for years

You’ve convinced me to try it out. Will report back here to complain, if you’ve steered me wrong!

No swipe typing = no reason to use.

If some are interested, FUTO also has their own keyboard app with word suggestions, swipe typing and some of the best voice to text I’ve seen period. And it runs locally as well

Futo seems very promising, they’re also crowd-aggregating a dataset for improving their swype typing at https://swipe.futo.org

Another one for Helliboard, tried Floris but spell checking is a must for me, once Floris has it, I may try things out.
